Highlights of the Pyrenees National Park:
The national park comprises 69,850 hectares in total and extends over 15 towns in the regions of Pallars Sobirà and Alto Urgell. This makes it the largest natural park in Catalonia.
The park’s attractions are rich and varied. They include:
-Some of the highest mountains in the Pyrenees, like La Pica de Estats. At 3,143 metres, this is Catalonia’s highest peak.
-Numerous glacial lakes, including the famous Certascan, the biggest in Catalonia.
-Myriad species of flora, many of which are strictly protected.
-Countless species of fauna, including the brown bear, capercaille (wood grouse) and the native pallaresa lizard.
